Proclamation of the Elders for the Turning of the Year 2026

Brothers, Sisters, Cousins, as the old sun sets upon the year now ended, and the dawn of 2026 crowns the horizon, we stand together at the gateway of time. Here we invoke the ancient spirit of Janus—the guardian of thresholds, whose twin gaze beholds both the past and the future. In his image, we too turn our eyes in both directions: one face to remembrance, one to renewal.
Look now upon the path behind us. The year 2025 has tested our resolve and revealed our endurance. Its lessons, woven through challenge and triumph, have deepened our understanding and strengthened the ties that bind us. Let no hardship be forgotten, for from each trial blooms wisdom. Let no joy be overlooked, for it nourishes the soul of our people.
Now, turn with reverence to the path before us. The year 2026 stands as untrodden earth, awaiting our first footprints. May we step forward with intention and courage, planting seeds of compassion, diligence, and unity. Each sunrise grants us the chance to renew our purpose; each heartbeat affirms our belonging in the great web of life.
Know this, the turning seasons: all endings are beginnings wearing the cloak of memory. As one fire fades, another kindles. The circle continues, eternal and steadfast.
Therefore, let us proceed into this new year in balance—mindful of the past, hopeful for the future, and anchored in the present. May the spirit of Janus guard our threshold and the wisdom of time guide our steps.
So let it be spoken; so may it endure.
