Elder’s Message for Martius

Hear me, Brothers, Cousins, Friends of this land. The month of March has come again, and with it, the stirring of life beneath the soil. Long ago, our ancestors spoke of Mars—not as a spirit of battle, but as a keeper of fields and the awakening earth. In those early days, his strength was not in the sword, but in the plow, in the gentle turning of ground that begins the season’s promise.

So now, as the winds shift and the rains soften the soil, we too must honor that rhythm. The Earth calls us to prepare, to plant, to give back what we have taken. Each seed you press into the ground carries a prayer. Let your hands be steady, your heart humble, and your thoughts kind toward the land that feeds you.

Remember—the soil is a living elder also. It remembers your footsteps, your gratitude, your neglect. Treat it as you would your own kin. Whisper your hopes to the fields, bless the sprouting life, and thank the unseen spirits that weave root to rain and leaf to sun.

This is Mars’s true legacy: not war, but the sacred duty of renewal. Let us walk in balance with that memory, tending both Earth and spirit in the turning of this new season.
