Gay Elder Circle Monthly Meeting – April 12, 2020
I want to thank everyone for responding to our first ever Survey Monkey. We now have a new tool at our disposal for sending out a topic and obtaining a response quickly and easily. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
Survey Monkey Results:
April Meeting: 50% Yes, 50% No – due to guidelines put in place by Federal, State and Local officials and the L.A. County Dept. of Health, I am canceling the April in-person meeting due to COVID-19 (Caronavirus) and out of abundance of care for our members who regularly attend our in-person meetings. It’s also helpful that WeHo Parks and Recreation has canceled all facility use for the month of April.
Separately our core in-person attendees participated in an email poll about having a video conference in place of the in-person meeting for April. The response was a 57% No to the video conference.
We invite and welcome everyone to set aside personal time for conscious reflection and join the Gay Elder Circle in spirit on April 12, 2020, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
May Meeting: 50% Yes, 50% No – will wait to make a decision on the May meeting. Will have to evaluate conditions surrounding public gatherings in light of COVID-19 before a final decision can be made to conduct an in-person meeting. Also to see if WeHo Parks and Recreation will be allowing Facility use.
June Meeting: 55% Yes, 45% No – we will pencil in having an in-person June meeting. Will continue to monitor COVID-19 before this meeting is fully confirmed.
COVID-19 (Caronavirus) is a fast moving health issue with new updates on a regular basis. COVID-19 peaked after about 2 1/2 month in China. We can hopefully project a similar length of time in the United States.
Community Engagement: 40% Yes, 60% No – we will suspend all community engagement activities until we can re-assess how to move forward once COVID-19 has safely passed. All planning will cease and we can re-evaluate after our collective health safety is no longer at risk.
We encourage you to take appropriate measures for yourself to remain healthy. The City of West Hollywood has provided a link to the L.A. County Dept. of Public Health resource page for the latest information on COVID-19. We are glad to provide here for your convenience: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/
