Mother’s Day 2021

The #GayElderCircle honors Mothers of all stripes today. We share the link below that accompanies this photograph. The link makes note of this blended family of a Lesbian couple who adopted an older woman (non-LGBT) and created a loving environment. A loving environment that keeps the older woman out of a caring facility allowing her to “age in place”. Not directly addressed from a historical perspective a time in the U.S. when LGBT persons did use adoption laws as a work around to form families and as a way for inheritance to be left to appropriate beneficiaries.

This couple ‘adopted’ their elder friend, and now they live as a family.
